Saralynn Reece

In 2006, having spent 10 years working her way up the corporate ladder, Saralynn ditched her job and opened “That Takes the Cake”, a cupcake boutique in San Francisco. Not long after opening, That Takes the Cake had quite the following that only continued when it was awarded the “Best Cupcake Award” by Best of the Bay for two consecutive years.

After selling That Takes the Cake, she decided to complete the Culinary Arts Program at San Francisco Cooking School and went on to become a line cook at Delfina. Saralynn now shares her knowledge with students, embracing the concept of cooking “outside the box” while celebrating the bounty of fresh ingredients available so easily to us in the Bay Area.
