Take a tour of Asia by making Asian dumplings – from scratch. Celebrated author Andrea Nguyen will guide you to discover why Asian dumplings are fun, uncomplicated, and wonderfully satisfying foods. You’ll make different doughs, wrappers, fillings, and dipping sauces, learn to shape handsome dumplings, and cook them to perfection. Andrea will share shopping tips and culinary history from her book, Asian Dumplings, recently named by Cooking Light as one of the best 100 cookbooks in the past 25 years. Bring your copy of Asian Dumplings or buy one at the class for Andrea to sign for you.
Some of the recipes you’ll prepare as a class are: Classic Chinese Pork and Garlic Chive Pot Stickers, Gingery Vegetarian Wontons, Baked Curried Chicken Bao, Shanghai Pan-fried Mini Buns, Cantonese Shrimp Har Gow, Vegetarian Crystal Dumplings, and Shrimp Rice Rolls.
Each class concludes with a meal around the table, enjoying what you and your fellow classmates have cooked using your newly acquired skills.... And, yes, wine is served!
This is an immersive, hands-on cooking class. You will be on your feet cooking most of the time so please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
